What IS Endermologie?

What is cellulite?
Cellulite is a skin condition that affects more than 90% of women. It is the “orange peel” skin most women begin to notice in their 20s. It tends to worsen with age and is related to hormonal variations. Resulting from circulation impairment on a micro level, cellulite is a vicious circle involving fluid retention, rigid connective tissue and enlargement of fat cells in the superficial layer.

How can I tell if I'm retaining fluid?
Below are some easy ways to tell.
Press the tip of your finger into the inside of your shin-bone. Can your finger make a dent?
Do your rings sometimes seem not to fit you any more?
Is your tummy often tight and swollen?
Do you ever suffer from breast tenderness (women)?
Does your weight ever fluctuate by several pounds within the space of only 24 hours?

If the answer to one or more of these questions is "Yes," you may be retaining fluid.

I had liposuction a few weeks/months ago. I was very happy with my results at first, and now I'm all over the place. I have days when I feel great, and then days when I wonder if there is any difference in my body at all! How is this so?
Relax, this is very common, and your liposuction DID work! Many of my clients are post-lipo patients, because when your body goes through surgery, it must then heal itself. While it's in the healing stages (usually up to 6 months post-op), it has a tendency to hang onto fluid much more than before your surgery. This makes you feel "fat" or "spongy," which is no fun. Endermologie® addresses this problem at it's source and help the body release all those excess fluids, so you look and feel much better. How long does a session last? Do you just work on my problem areas?
Sessions last an average of 35 minutes. Your problem areas are focused on, but time is given to other areas to stimulate general circulation and elimination.

How many sessions before I see results?
Endermologie® treatments are generally 35 minutes in duration, twice a week. The average women will need 15 to 18 treatments to achieve optimal results. Once a month follow-up treatments are recommended to maintain results.

How long do the results last?
A recent study in France by Professor Ortonne showed that results can last up to 6 months, depending on age, lifestyle and hormonal changes. However, maintenance sessions of at least once a month are recommended after completion of the initial sessions for optimal results. These follow-up sessions maintain the results and keep fluids from building up in the tissues.

Does this replace exercise?
No. Endermologie® reduces the appearance of cellulite, a condition that is resistant to diet and exercise. It works on a more superficial fat layer than exercise does, which is why even women who work out often still have cellulite. In addition to Endermologie®, both healthy diet and exercise should be incorporated as part of one’s lifestyle for optimal results.

Do diet and exercise get rid of cellulite?

Whereas both diet and exercise affect deep fat, they fail to act on the underlying cause of cellulite in the superficial tissue of your skin. Even women who exercise regularly and follow a low fat-diet may still have cellulite.
Because excess sodium causes water retention in the tissues, reduction of this element may help to reduce cellulite. Pamela and her team councel all their clients on ways to reduce sodium intake and hence, maximize the amount of abnormal fluid that is flushed out of the superficial tissue.

Does this treatment work on men also?
Definitely-- especially for problem areas such as "love handles" and loose pectoral tissues. Results have been excellent. Since Endermologie ® ® has been found to expel toxins trapped in this tissue, some of Pamela's clients have included firemen, as it helps rid their body of the toxins from the smoke that gets trapped in their tissues.

How long do I have to wait after liposuction or a tummy tuck to receive treatment?

This depends, but usually you can start once the compressive garments come off. However, Endermologie® is an excellent way to prepare the skin for liposuction or a tummy tuck before surgery —allowing for optimal results.

Does the machine tone the skin? Will I lose weight?
You will most likely notice an improvement in skin tone after using the machine. Appearance of stretch marks and loose skin may be improved. It is not a weight loss method, however, many clients report being able to lose weight, especially fat weight, more easily while using the machine than they ever could before.

What sensations will I experience during the treatment? Does it hurt?

The sensation is similar to a deep massage and most clients find it quite pleasant. The strength of the treatment can be individually adjusted to your comfort level.

What will I feel like afterwards?

Most clients report a feeling of relaxation and an increase in energy. To aid in elimination, it is recommended that you drink at least two liters of water every day during the duration of your treatment in order to aid in elimination of the mobilized fat.
